Self Care Manual for Youth/Adult Depression Overall Rank: 103
Self care manual for adults and adolescents with any and all forms of depression is offered.
Domain : Youth
Young people 12 to 19 years of age and conditions common in this population.
Additional Domain(s) : Self-Management Support, Patients with Mood Disorders
Rationale
Self-care manual for Depression called Dealing With Depression available for free download for printing as a hardcopy workbook or as a computer-based [readable and savable] workbook for adolescents aged 13-18 years with all forms of depression. Current practice is exclusive reliance on antidepressant medication with questionable efficacy and potentially increased risk of being suicidal whether used alone for mild to moderate severity depression (whether Adjustment Disorder or Major Depression) or as an adjunct to medication or cognitive behavioral therapy for more severe forms of Major Depression,

Desired outcome is improved depression treatment outcomes and teaching specific coping skills likely to have a preventive function.
